Gravel

Using a decorative gravel or chippings to form a driveway or path can enhance any property, and they can also help you to hear if you have any visitors, wanted or unwanted. When applying a gravel or aggregate it is advisable to prepare the ground beforehand, making sure there is a decent depth of hardcore that has been well rolled and compressed, and then a layer of geo textile membrane to help stabilise the ground.

It is advisable that you apply the gravel at a depth of 2″ for optimum performance. For footpath construction follow the above advice, and just use weed control membrane instead of geo textile membrane.
